She shared the insights she has gained working in this area and gives us hope that we can make a difference. She believes our industry is uniquely placed to do more in this space. Michelle wants to empower practitioners and medical professionals to begin asking questions about the source of the products they recommend and to take responsibility for the incredibly influential role they play in the supply chain.

About Michelle Fernandez
Michelle is the Ethical Sourcing Manager for the Blackmores Group and engages with hundreds of suppliers to understand the implications for people and the planet in their shared supply chains. With a particular passion for human rights issues, Michelle’s role is central to the Group’s progress towards a goal of zero exploitation in their supply chain.  Michelle’s work is focused on increasing visibility of working conditions and uplifting the systems and governance structures to understand, improve and report on human rights risk in the natural healthcare industry.

Michelle holds a Bachelors Degree from Villanova University in Pennsylvania, USA in Chemistry and Biochemistry, a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition from Deakin University with a concentration in Paediatric Nutrition from Monash University.
